Dommerich Estates

Dommerich Estates is a distinct neighborhood within the broader Maitland lakefront area, platted and developed primarily in the 1960s on the wooded hills and lakeshores around Lake Dommerich and Lake Howell. The community takes its name from the Dommerich family, who were prominent early landowners in the area. The original development attracted a professional class of buyers — attorneys, physicians, and executives — who wanted large lots, privacy, and lake access within commuting distance of Orlando's growing commercial core.

The homes built in the 1960s and 1970s range from large ranch-style estates to split-level and two-story colonials, many on lots of half an acre to well over an acre. The neighborhood was designed with generous setbacks and substantial tree preservation, giving it a distinctly wooded, private character that contrasts with the more open feel of other Maitland neighborhoods. Lake Dommerich itself is a quiet, motorized lake well-suited to waterskiing and boating.

In recent decades, Dommerich Estates has followed the same reinvestment arc as comparable Maitland lakefront areas: original homes have been significantly updated or replaced, and new custom builds have pushed prices well above what the neighborhood commanded in earlier cycles. The combination of large lots, mature trees, lake access, and Seminole County school options (for some addresses) has made it a persistent favorite among buyers moving up from smaller homes elsewhere in the metro.
