Overview
Rockledge is Brevard County's oldest city — population 27,678 at the 2020 U.S. Census and an estimated 33,290 by 2026 (worldpopulationreview.com), all within the 32955 ZIP. The city sits on the Indian River Lagoon south of Cocoa and directly north of the master-planned Viera community. Rockledge was named for the rocky coquina ledges along the river bluff, a geological feature unusual on the Florida coast and the reason the late-19th-century Hotel Indian River, the Plaza, and the Rockledge Hotel were all built here as winter destinations for wealthy northern travelers (cityofrockledge.org). Today the city is a mix of historic riverfront, established 1980s–2000s family neighborhoods, and the connector geography between Cocoa to the north and Viera to the south.
