Orlando Parks

Five public parks worth knowing — from Lake Eola downtown to the Butler Chain access at R.D. Keene. Where Orlando residents actually spend their weekends.

Orlando is a park town. Most of the city's neighborhoods grew up around lakes, and most lakes have a public park on at least one shore. This is a working list of the five we send out-of-town buyers to first — the parks that actually shape daily life in the neighborhoods around them. Each entry includes the lake or district, real photos taken on-site, and the nearby neighborhoods with the best access.

Lake Eola Park

The 43-acre urban park at the heart of downtown — a 0.9-mile sidewalk loop around a 23-acre spring-fed lake, the iconic fountain, swan paddleboats, two playgrounds, and the Walt Disney Amphitheater. The Sunday Orlando Farmers Market (year-round, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.) draws 10,000+ weekly visitors. The city's largest July 4 fireworks happen here.

  • 0.9-mile sidewalk loop with daily fitness and dog-walking culture
  • Swan boats — $15 per half-hour rental
  • Sunday Orlando Farmers Market — year-round, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
  • Walt Disney Amphitheater — concerts and free community events
  • Linton E. Allen Memorial Fountain — Orlando's icon since 1957

One of the prettiest neighborhood parks in the city. A peninsula on the eastern shore is a popular fishing and quiet-picnic spot.

A smaller, intimate neighborhood park in Orlando's SoDo (South of Downtown) district — pavilions, playground, basketball, and the long-canopied character that defines the area south of the I-4 / Michigan Street corridor. Surrounded by historic SODO bungalows; popular for after-school play and weekend grilling.

  • Picnic pavilions and grills — first-come community use
  • Playground for elementary-age kids
