Ryan's Take on Timacuan
Timacuan is the answer when a Lake Mary address buyer asks me what the established alternative looks like — built from the late 1980s through the early 2000s rather than the past five years, which gives it mature trees, settled street character, and a golf course with 35-plus years of membership history.
The course was designed by Ron Garl in 1987 and later renovated by Bobby Weed — 18 holes, par 72, roughly 6,900 yards from the tips, semi-private with public access. The club model balances member amenities with daily-fee play, which maintains a membership identity without the exclusivity overhead of a fully private club.
The interior lake system creates waterfront homesites within a golf community, including some with private dock access — a combination that's surprisingly rare for Lake Mary. Lake Mary Tech Park (Siemens, EA, AAA national headquarters, Mitsubishi Power Americas) is 5–10 minutes away, making Timacuan unusually convenient for the corporate professional demographic that built this neighborhood.
Critical school note: despite carrying a Lake Mary address, Timacuan zones to Seminole High School in Sanford — not Lake Mary High. Seminole High carries IB and Health Academy magnet programs and is a strong SCPS campus. But confirm your specific street through the SCPS zone tool before contract, because zone lines here are strictly address-based.
