Stonecrest in Summerfield draws a very specific buyer: the active adult who wants the lifestyle of The Villages — the golf, the pools, the packed social calendar — without paying The Villages' premium or disappearing into a community of 80,000 people. At just over 2,200 homes, it's large enough to sustain 75-plus clubs and a full-time Activities Director, but small enough that neighbors actually know each other.
The commute anchor is almost irrelevant in the traditional sense — most residents are retired, and the community is designed around that reality. For those still working, Ocala is a quick drive north with serious healthcare and regional distribution employment. But the more relevant connection is the public golf cart path linking Stonecrest directly to the retail corridor it shares with The Villages.
The housing stock is all single-family resale on quarter-acre lots, set in the rolling hills that make this corner of Marion County look nothing like the flat Orlando suburbs. The 18-hole Broad Stripes Golf & Social Club is the centerpiece — a proper par 72 championship course open to the public.
