A brief history

Errol Estate carries one of central Florida's most colorful origin stories: the community was developed on land that was once part of a plantation and sporting estate owned by Hollywood actor Errol Flynn, who acquired the Apopka-area property in the 1940s. Flynn reportedly used the property — which included an airstrip and extensive citrus groves — as a private retreat. After Flynn's death in 1958, the property changed hands and was eventually acquired by developers who recognized its rolling terrain and established tree cover as ideal for a residential golf community.

The Errol Estate development launched in the 1970s, making it one of Apopka's earliest planned residential communities and one of central Florida's older continuously operating golf communities. The Errol Country Club anchored the development, and homes were constructed across multiple phases through the 1970s and 1980s in a variety of architectural styles reflecting those decades' tastes. The golf course was redesigned and updated over subsequent years as the community matured.
