This is not a quiet, tucked-away retirement neighborhood. It is a gated 55+ enclave built around 178 acres of navigable lakes, where a significant share of residents have private water access and the social calendar at the 18,000 square foot Island Clubhouse runs year-round. The buyers I work with here are typically relocating from colder markets or downsizing from a larger family home nearby in Central Florida, and they arrive knowing exactly what they want: single-level living, water views, organized activities, and a genuine downtown within a short drive.

The commute anchor here is really an absence of one. Most buyers at Lakes of Mount Dora are retired or semi-retired, and the draw is lifestyle proximity rather than employment proximity — though AdventHealth Waterman in Tavares is only about five miles away for medical professionals who are still active. Orlando is roughly 40 minutes southeast for those with family or appointments in the metro.
