The community anchors primarily to retirees and seasonal snowbirds rather than to a commute corridor, though Palm Bay and Melbourne are both within a comfortable drive for anyone still working. L3Harris, Health First, and Melbourne's broader aerospace and healthcare cluster give the broader area genuine employment depth — making it a viable base for buyers who are semi-retired or working part-time.

What makes Barefoot Bay unusual is the amenity-to-cost ratio: an 18-hole golf course, fishing pier, heated pools, and over a hundred organized activities, all delivered through a Special Recreation District rather than a traditional HOA. You own the land and the home. There are no lot-rent checks to write.
