Step 2
Set Up Your Utilities
Call ahead of your move-in date so the power and water are on when you arrive. Electric and water depend on your exact address — see the note under each.
Electric
Most of Collier is FPL, but Marco Island, Immokalee, and Everglades City are LCEC — a common mix-up. Confirm by address.
Florida Power & Light (FPL)
Serves: Most of Collier — City of Naples, East/North Naples, Golden Gate, Ave Maria.
LCEC (Lee County Electric Cooperative)
Serves: Marco Island, Immokalee, Everglades City, and far-eastern/southern Collier.
Water & Sewer
Inside the City of Naples or on Marco Island, use the city. Golden Gate is now Collier County (no longer FGUA).
Collier County Public Utilities
Serves: Unincorporated Collier including Golden Gate City & Estates and North/East Naples.
City of Marco Island Utilities
Serves: Marco Island (water/sewer).
Natural Gas
Much of Collier is all-electric; confirm a gas main exists before scheduling service.
Trash & Recycling
Inside Naples or on Marco Island, trash is billed via the city; unincorporated is the county.
Collier County Solid Waste
Serves: Unincorporated Collier (twice-weekly trash, weekly recycling/yard waste).
Internet & TV
Availability varies block to block — check your address on each provider's site.
CenturyLink
Serves: DSL & fiber in parts of Naples/Collier — check by address.
Not sure who serves your exact address?
Electric, water, and trash can change street by street. The fastest ways to confirm: check the seller's most recent utility bill, ask your closing agent or title company, or call the city utility office for the city your home is in. If your home is in an unincorporated area, it's handled by the county. Your MaxLife agent is happy to help you pin this down before closing.
