Lake Nona's A-rated public schools, from Moss Park Elementary to Lake Nona High, and why Medical City employers have created one of Orlando's tightest school-zone markets.
Lake Nona is the fastest-growing corridor in Orlando, and the school quality is one of the top three reasons buyers give me for choosing 32827 over other options. The other two are the medical employers and the new infrastructure. But the schools are what keeps families here long-term, and they're what I get the most detailed questions about. Here's what you need to know.
The Lake Nona Public School Pipeline
Moss Park Elementary
Location: 12600 Narcoossee Rd, Orlando 32832** State Grade: A
Moss Park Elementary serves the western and central portions of the Lake Nona growth corridor, including parts of Laureate Park and Eagle Creek. It's an A-rated campus that benefits from the high-income, dual-professional demographic of 32827. Strong FSA scores, high parent involvement, and consistent funding through an engaged PTA.
One thing worth knowing: Moss Park is in the 32832 zip code, which covers a portion of the Narcoossee corridor. Some addresses in 32827 zone here; some zone to Northlake Park instead. The boundary runs roughly through the Lake Nona master-planned community depending on your subdivision.
Northlake Park Community School
Location: 13400 Northlake Park Community, Orlando 32827** State Grade: A
Northlake Park is one of the most community-oriented public schools in Orange County. It was purpose-built as part of the Tavistock master-plan to serve the Lake Nona residential development, and it reflects that planning in its architecture, programming, and community integration. The school runs K–8, which is unusual and highly valued by parents who want continuity through middle school years without redistricting.
The school is located within walking and biking distance of a significant portion of the Northlake Park and Lake Nona neighborhoods. For buyers prioritizing walkability and community cohesion, this is the strongest argument for the specific parcels that zone here.
Capacity watch: Northlake Park Community School is highly enrolled. The zone has not yet been redistricted, but as 32827 continues to add housing units, this is a school to monitor. The district has rezoning conversations periodically; I tell buyers that their child's elementary zone in 2026 may shift before they reach middle school age.
Lake Nona Middle School
Location: 12500 Narcoossee Rd, Orlando 32832** State Grade: A
Lake Nona Middle is a newer campus that serves the 32827/32832 corridor. A-rated, well-resourced, and benefiting from the same demographic tailwinds as the elementary schools. It offers advanced coursework including Pre-IB courses that articulate with Lake Nona High's IB track.
For families planning the IB pipeline, the middle school's Pre-IB courses provide explicit preparation for high school IB programme admission. This is the same model used in Winter Park and Dr. Phillips — buy into the zone, understand the pipeline, prepare your child accordingly.
Lake Nona High School
Location: 12500 Narcoossee Rd, Orlando 32832** State Grade: A
Lake Nona High opened in 2017 and has earned its A rating quickly. It's a newer building with modern facilities, offers both AP and IB tracks, and has benefited from a teaching staff that was recruited with newer campus culture in mind. The school serves approximately 2,000–2,500 students, making it somewhat smaller than Winter Park High or Dr. Phillips High, which some families prefer.
The IB programme at Lake Nona High is growing. As the first cohorts of students who've been through the full K–12 Lake Nona pipeline graduate, the programme is building institutional depth. It's not yet as established as the IB programs at Winter Park or Dr. Phillips with their longer histories, but it's on the same academic trajectory.
A-rating consistency: Both the middle and high school earned A ratings in recent years and have held them. The combination of new facilities, stable funding, and an upwardly mobile community demographic makes this unlikely to regress in the near term.

Golden Rule Private School
Golden Rule is a K–8 private school within the Lake Nona community. It's faith-based, smaller than TFA or Trinity Prep, and serves families who want private education without a long commute out of the zip code. For families with elementary-age children who are choosing 32827 primarily for medical employment convenience, Golden Rule is the on-site private option.
Other Nearby Private Options
Families in 32827 who want private high school typically drive to Bishop Moore Catholic (32803, about 30–35 minutes depending on traffic) or consider Orlando Christian Prep (32832). The private high school landscape for Lake Nona is less convenient than for Winter Park or Dr. Phillips families, which is a real logistical consideration.
The Medical City Connection
I can't write about Lake Nona schools without addressing the reason the zip code has the demographic profile it does. Medical City is the campus of healthcare employers — Orlando Health UCF Cancer Center, Nemours Children's Hospital, VA Medical Center Orlando, and the UCF College of Medicine — that has drawn physicians, researchers, nurses, and administrators to 32827 in large numbers.
That population is highly educated, income-stable, and intensely focused on educational outcomes for their children. It creates a self-reinforcing cycle: strong schools attract professional families, professional families drive strong school outcomes, strong outcomes justify school investment, and new families choose 32827 specifically for the school quality.
The result is a tight market. Homes in the best Lake Nona school zones — particularly Northlake Park Community School's zone — move fast. Inventory is consistently low. When a home comes available in the Northlake Park neighborhood itself, I routinely see multiple offers within days.

One thing I always discuss with Lake Nona buyers: the school zone premium comes with an associated cost that doesn't appear in the base purchase price. Most Lake Nona subdivisions are within a Community Development District (CDD), which adds an annual fee to your property tax bill. CDDs fund the infrastructure — roads, parks, water management, community amenities — and range from roughly $1,500 to $4,500/year depending on the subdivision and lot.
This is not unique to Lake Nona (Celebration, Harmony, and other master-planned communities in the area have them too), but buyers sometimes focus on the purchase price and overlook the effective carrying cost. On a $600K home with a $3,000/year CDD, your effective ownership cost is meaningfully higher than a comparable non-CDD home at the same price.
The school quality justifies the premium for most families I work with. But going in clear-eyed about CDDs prevents budget surprises at closing.
The Capacity Question: What Redistricting Risk Looks Like
Orange County Public Schools has redistricted the Lake Nona area several times in the last decade as the zip code added housing. The risk of redistricting is real — if you buy in Laureate Park today zoned to Northlake Park Community School, that could change before your kindergartener reaches 4th grade.
The district's public rezoning process provides notice and community input periods before changes take effect. I tell buyers to monitor OCPS rezoning news, attend community input meetings if redistricting is proposed, and not anchor their entire buying decision on a single school's current zone assignment.
That said: even with redistricting risk, the Lake Nona high school (Lake Nona High) has remained stable as the area high school, and the broader quality of 32827 campuses is unlikely to deteriorate given the demographic base.

Lake Nona's schools are legitimately excellent. A-rated across the pipeline, new facilities, strong community culture, and a demographic base that keeps standards high. The market premium is real — you're paying for it — and for families where both parents are employed in medical or professional fields and need proximity to Medical City, the combination of employment location and school quality makes 32827 one of the most rational buys in the metro.
The primary watchouts: CDD fees, redistricting risk at the elementary level, and the fact that private high school options require a significant commute.
